Run4YourLives ("we," "us," or "our") is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. Our mission is to support mental health through running, walking, and movement. We operate the Run4YourLives mobile application (the "App") and the website located at www.run4yourlives.com (the "Site").

2. Information We Collect

Information You Provide Directly

• Name and email address (when you create an account)
• Profile information including identity tags and stressor tags you choose to share (e.g. "Parent," "Work burnout") — these are entirely optional and used only to personalize your experience
• Birth month and year (used solely to calculate estimated heart rate zones)
• Stories, photos, and videos you voluntarily submit to our Community section
• Shoe, nutrition, and gear information you log in the App

Information Collected Automatically During Use

• GPS location data during active run or walk sessions (used to track distance, route, and pace)
• Accelerometer and motion data (used for auto-pause detection)
• Heart rate data if you connect a Bluetooth heart rate monitor
• Run statistics: distance, time, pace, splits, elevation
• Device information: device type, operating system version
• App usage data: features used, session duration

Information from Third Parties

• If you connect your Strava account, we import your run history with your explicit permission
• If you connect Apple Health, we import workout data with your explicit permission
• Weather data is retrieved from a weather API using your approximate location at the time of your run

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

• Provide, operate, and improve the App and its features
• Personalize your motivational voice cues based on your profile tags
• Track your running and walking activity, progress, and achievements
• Calculate heart rate zones using your birth year and age
• Enable the live safety tracking beacon feature when you choose to use it
• Send you notifications about your streak, goals, and milestones (only if you enable them)
• Display your submitted stories in our Community section (only after your explicit consent and our review)
• Improve our cue library, features, and user experience
• Comply with legal obligations

We do not use your information to show you advertisements, sell to third-party marketers, or make automated decisions that significantly affect you.

4. Location Data

The App requests access to your precise GPS location during active run and walk sessions. This location data is used to:

• Calculate the distance and route of your activity
• Enable turn-by-turn navigation when you use route planning
• Power the live safety tracking beacon (only when you actively share it)
• Determine which collectible items and geographic achievements you have earned
• Log the approximate weather conditions at your run location

Location data is stored securely in your account. We do not share your location history with third parties. Background location access is used only during active tracking sessions and stops when you finish or discard an activity.

You can revoke location permissions at any time in your device settings, though doing so will prevent the App from tracking your activities.

5. Mental Health Information

Run4YourLives allows you to optionally share information about stressors in your life (such as "Financial stress," "Grief or loss," or "Mental health (anxiety, depression, etc.)"). This information is sensitive and we treat it with the utmost care.

• This information is entirely voluntary and can be updated or removed at any time
• It is used only to select personalized motivational cues during your runs
• It is never shared with third parties, insurers, employers, or healthcare providers
• It is never used to make decisions about you beyond personalizing your app experience
• It is stored securely and encrypted at rest

If you choose not to provide this information, the App will still work fully — your motivational cues will simply be drawn from our general running cue library.

6. Sharing Your Information

We do not sell your personal information. We may share your information only in the following limited circumstances:

Service Providers

We use third-party services to operate the App, including database hosting (Supabase), mapping (Mapbox), and weather data (OpenWeatherMap). These providers access only the data necessary to provide their specific service and are bound by confidentiality obligations.

Third-Party Integrations You Choose

If you connect Strava or Apple Health, data is shared with those services only with your explicit authorization and in accordance with their own privacy policies.

Safety Tracking Beacon

When you use the live safety tracking feature, your real-time location and run status are made accessible to anyone with the unique link you share. You control who receives this link. The link expires automatically 2 hours after your run ends.

Community Stories

If your story submission is approved and published in the Community section, it will be visible to other App users and potentially on our website and social channels, as described in the consent you provided at submission.

Legal Requirements

We may disclose your information if required to do so by law or in response to valid legal process.

7. Data Security

We take the security of your data seriously. We implement industry-standard security measures including:

• Encryption of data in transit using HTTPS/TLS
• Encryption of sensitive data at rest
• Secure authentication practices
• Limited access to personal data by our team
• Regular review of our security practices

No method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is 100% secure. While we strive to use commercially acceptable means to protect your information, we cannot guarantee its absolute security.

8. Data Retention

We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide you services. You may request deletion of your account and associated data at any time by contacting us at info@run4yourlives.com.

Some data may be retained in anonymized, aggregated form for research and improvement purposes even after account deletion.

9. Children's Privacy

Run4YourLives is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have inadvertently collected information from a child under 13, please contact us immediately at info@run4yourlives.com and we will take steps to delete that information.

Users between the ages of 13 and 18 should review this policy with a parent or guardian before using the App.

10. Your Rights and Choices

Depending on your location, you may have the following rights regarding your personal information:

• Access: Request a copy of the personal information we hold about you
• Correction: Request that we correct inaccurate or incomplete information
• Deletion: Request that we delete your account and personal information
• Portability: Request your run data in a portable format (CSV or GPX)
• Opt-out: Disable notifications, location tracking, or optional profile features at any time within the App settings
• Withdraw consent: Remove your community story submission at any time by contacting us

11. Cookies and Tracking

Our website (www.run4yourlives.com) may use essential cookies to ensure the site functions correctly. We do not use cookies for advertising or third-party tracking purposes.

The App itself does not use advertising cookies or tracking pixels.

Our App and website may contain links to third-party websites or services (such as articles in our Community section). We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those third parties and encourage you to review their privacy policies before sharing any personal information with them.

13. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will notify you by updating the date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, by sending a notification through the App.
